Why do raw materials need to be dried?
For PET plastic steel strapping, "dehumidification and drying" is the key link in the molding of PET products.
PET is a hygroscopic polymer. It will quickly absorb moisture in the air and increase the moisture content of the material.
For example, if the completely dried PET resin is in contact with air at a relative temperature of (30-40)℃ for 12 minutes, its moisture content will reach %. The trace amount of moisture remaining in the material will also cause water degradation of the PET melt, reduce the viscosity (IV), cause the mechanical properties of the product to decrease, and the appearance will show silver spots. In the production process, the moisture content in the PET material decreases, the special viscosity increases (Table 2), the relative molecular weight increases, and the mechanical properties of the product also increase accordingly, so the PET plastic steel strapping tape is relatively safe during transportation and bundling.
